Unit 17 - Specialist 3D Technology & Processes (continued from the last post)

Innovation in Design, yet unusual as a Bus Shelter...

(North Sydney Bus Shelter - During the day)

(North Sydney Bus Shelter - During the Night)

(It looks like a building, rather than a bus shelter. I like its design though. The architecture is very interesting.)

(It looks very similar to a gazebo)

(I like how these forms are done. It depends where it will be placed to make it look interesting in the environment.)

Decorative...

(...a too decorative bus shelter!)

Good Design & Something New...

(The reason why I gave this Shelter "Good Design & Something New" is because now one can see something new. It looks organic and looks very different from the other bus shelters)

Unit 17 - Specialist 3D Technology & Processes (continued from the last post)

Another common shelter...

Unit 17 - Specialist 3D Technology & Processes

I started off by researching on some of the existing bus shelters which we find around us:

Unusual...

(I don't think I would ever design a watermelon and a strawberry as bus shelters...it's definiately not an innovation)

(It looks very similar to an origami of a frog. The mateial makes the whole design quite boring)
________________

Common...

(As one can see, all of the bus shelters shown above are completely covered, especially at the top which I imagine the reason for this would be for the weather. They're designed in normal shapes and forms, mostly in geometrical. There isn't anything new in them.)

Unit 12 - Product Design

Part of our assignment was to create a cosmetics packaging. These are my ideas which I came up with:

My aim about this conceptual idea was to make life easier for women on the go.
One of my feedback comments was that the whole compartment might be heavy and not that practical for the user when filing the nails. I thought of making those items in plastic for solving this problem but it still might be a problem.

I don't like this idea a lot. I took it as an inspiration from the nail buffer as to try and put all the most necessary makeup that women use, on all 4 sides. Instead of keeping the same form, I manipulated it into this which can be re-assembled.

I find this interesting. My aim for this idea, was also to produce a multi-functional item for women on the go.
Its function might seem a little bit complicated and at the same time it might not be practically good for the user.

This idea looks quite simple. I tried to make a different function on how a compact can be opened.

I continued to try and come up with a new idea as I wasn't quite satisfied with the first four. The beauty case is the one which I'm going to continue on as I received some positive comments. The idea is good, but I'm still doing some development of machinery fittings.

A 360 Umbrella!!

I haven't found any information about this full body umbrella.

It seems quite useful for heavy rains especially, but I wonder if these large circles have a net to cover the wholes for not letting rain go in. It also looks comfortable because it's wide and the material is obviously transparent.

Pecha Kucha

I hope you appreciate my comments guys and consider my criticism as means to help you with future work.
Good Luck to all of you =)

Veronique - The presentation was very well presented - good preparation and well organised. She's got her own style and I knew it from the moment she showed her paintings as she has her particular way of shading the colours. She also had good skills in her sketches and in AutoCAD and she seems to work a lot with curves and simplicity in her final designs like the FMP and the soap structure, which I personally like.

Gabriel - He felt confident while doing his presentation which was very well presented; he really knows how to address the viewers. All of his work were interesting - very effective which every design had a meaning even if it is simple. I loved the portrait of that little girl and the 'spaces' unit most.

Sirach - Good presentation, it was very interesting as you showed a lot of skills in different techniques and experimentation in materials, as I know you're addicted to textures. All the designs were very impressive especially the 3D ones. I wouldn't write a lot of words in the slides though as I read that in a Pecha Kucha presentation one has to argue his work and the presentation supports him with the images.

Richard - His work was interesting especially the ones which are minimal and simple. The presentation showed your passion in interior design, and he also has good skills in 3D applications.

Stephanie - The presentation was very well presented, organised and informative and showed a lot of interesting and decorative work in which her style comes out. Her drawing skills are really good and all her work show improvement throughout the stages in her life.

Ishmael - He showed a number of different techniques in his work, especially in wood. I realised that he's into religious art and design, but he should have shown some different variation in his work and not just stick to one subject. That might be his style but I personally think that showing a different range of your work will help more in the future.

Christine - I don't think that the presentation was well prepared as there was a lot of silence. There is no need to be afraid or to be uncomfortable when presenting your own work. The work done outside was interesting though, but I would prefer showing more of the school work.

Christian - The presentation was well explained. I admire his great knowledge in 3D work, but most especially in 3D applications. He should be proud of his work.

Lorraine - Has a great knowledge of both 3D work and 3D applications - good mixture of materials and interesting techniques. At some times she should have slowed down a bit, as she wasn't clear enough though.

Martina - She had a well explained presentation showing very good skills in paintings (loved them), knowledge of experimenting in materials both of workshops and outside the school and interesting and effective metal pieces (especially the back piece).

Christina - The presentation could have been more well prepared. All of her work was very interesting and effective and it also showed that since she has come in school last year, it helped her to experiment with different materials which she did very well in her pieces (especially the umbrella!). Keep it up =)

Nicole - I admire her good skills in drawing and painting a lot and I also think that changing a workshop did make a difference for her too, as the textiles experiments were very interesting (especially when she did the crochet 'baskets' of the soap structure)(...please don't get me wrong for changing the workshop, because all the work is very interesting). I also admired the way you managed to include (your passion of...) modelling in Mr.Formosa's unit which was also an impressive piece.

Mark - He should have been more confident during the presentation as he wasn't looking enough to the viewers when he was addressing them. It was informative though. He's a hardworker in wood and I liked his work a lot, especially the chair.

Sarah - I personally think that she should have presented one piece of work in less slides as she could have showed more of her work which could be in other different materials and not just in wood. Good work though...and she has an interesting shelf, liked it a lot.

Vanessa - I like her sense of style because it shows who she really is (great work on your FMP, you know how much I love it). I admire the fact that she criticise her own work too. But I'd prefer if she showed more variety in her work, as I've seen a lot of repetition in her slides and addressing the audience more.

Tamara - The presentation was well presented. I admire her work a lot - it's simple, interesting, effective & graphical. The way she thinks outside the box and puts her ideas into something innovative will help her a lot in the future. She should have put more products/designs rather than just explaining one item in more than one slide though.

Elisa - I admire her great skills in textiles and drawings, although she should've showed more of her interesting work which I know she has, as she explained one particular unit in most of the slides (Love your FMP =])
